ENTREPRENEURSHIP LIVE WITH JIMMY CHAN
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
In 2000, Jimmy Chan founded the Hawaiian Chip Company by making sweet potato chips on a little table top fryer to sell at the open markets. By the second year, the Hawaiian Chip Company was struggling and on the brink of bankruptcy. With guidance from other leaders in Hawai‘i’s business community, the company survived. The company is now profitable, with the chips sold statewide.
In 2009, Chan also launched the Kilauea Fire line of sauces which has grown sales in Hawai‘i and in Japan. With aspirations of global distribution for that product he is setting up a retail facility at the factory.
